Take your wings and fly away: Frøydis Labowsky.

Every so often you get the chance of meeting someone completely unique and different who actually leaves you a bit awe struck. I was lucky enough to be able to get such moment a week ago when I met with Frøydis Labowsky. Having had her media frenzy and a bit worn off from the spotlight, she took time from her busy life of studies, shoots and general life to grab a coffee and discuss pretty much a bit about herself.

Now you may be wondering, who is Frøydis Labowsky? Well, all I have to say is shame on you. Yes, she did participate in Norway's Next Top Model and place second runner-up (even though she would have won had it not been for other circumstances) yet that is not at all what's important. What really matters is that she is a girl who actually can model. The moment I met her she was standing amidst a crowd of people wearing a long almost Lord of the Rings cape with her hair pulled back. It almost seemed statuesque and that's when you realize that you are standing in front of a person with lots of potential.

I actually meant to carry out an interview but I had such an interesting time that I actually forgot to record anything so this is all carried through my notes and my thoughts. I hope you do enjoy this as much as I did. I give you Frøydis.

Like mentioned previously, her unique style already sets her apart from any other ordinary girl not only in everyday life but also in the modeling world. She describes her style as being gothic. She likes the color black and it makes a nice contrast against her white skin. She agrees that this is one of the things that sets her apart and she laughs about the comparison between her and Lord of the Rings. She actually enjoys this a lot because she likes history and is secretly an eager World of Warcraft fan. Who knew?

Onto fashion, Frøydis comments on the fact that even though she is completely new in the international fashion industry she is more than eager to learn and discover new territory. The fact that she has been around Oslo Fashion Week seems to help her a bit yet at the same time she is fully aware that the world out there is a lot different from the one in Norway. She is more than prepared to face critique and she more than convinces us because of the enormous positivity she continues to have through the whole meeting. Even though she hasn't always booked the jobs she wanted to, she feels that the whole industry has a nice environment. In a way you could say that she is ready to take on a bigger challenge.

We discuss her possible markets and she reveals that she would love to work in London and it's her ultimate goal. Yet at the same time Berlin is a city of her preference not only because of the city as itself but because she is signed to Indeed Model Management there. Smart move. Building a portfolio is always helpful and with her look there is no doubt that she can do just that. even though she hasn't found out where her absolute forte lies, she is confident in what she does in front of the camera as she agrees that what she does is art. She is very aware of her long arms and legs and delicate fingers and to me that can make or break a model. It's always nice to see someone model from the bottom of the toes to the nails on the fingers.

It is obvious that most fashion models would love to end up on Parisian Vogue or Italian Vogue and Frøydis admits just that. What is still very lovable is that she is quite realistic and says that she would love to end up there and let that be her ultimate goal yet she is aware of her present and says she would like to work one day at a time and that she would be more than ecstatic just getting her first cover of a magazine.

Quickly we got to talking about our admiration. While I try to get off of describing my admiration for Coco Rocha and Sessilee Lopez, she reveals to us that when she was younger she used to watch tv and some magazines and see Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell and think of how good they looked. Yet it never crossed her mind that one day that could be something for her as well. Frøydis does have a model body that would be well suited for editorials and runway and her striking face is also very strong. And even though she might not be the best candidate for pin-up work, she reveals that she would love to at some point do some work for What Katie Did, a British brand that focuses their designs not only on the 40s and 50s but also on vintage pieces yet all of this adapted for women today. Cute dream and why not? Frøydis has already shown that she can model a corset with grace and elegance.

Frøydis is fascinated by history and is in fact taking up just that at the University of Oslo. She likes the fashion and the wear of that era and says that she would love to take part on a shoot with such theme. Immediately we get pictures of Alexander McQueen's F/W 08 collection and catch her vibe. Very regal and very European look and Frøydis would indeed pull off such a look. Her pale white skin makes perfect contrast with her hair giving her that European edge that is desired. Anyways these are just hopes that she would love to work with but she is in general very versatile and very accepting of any good ideas that may come her way. She does realize that this is a very open industry and she is willing to establish herself as a fashion model.

As previousl stated she has started her modeling career and she is signed to TopModels Agency in Oslo, Norway but she is hoping to get signed in London as well. Here are her stats:
Height: 177 cm
Jeans: 27/34
Dress: 36
Shoes: 37
Bust: 75
Cup: B75
Waist: 59
Hair: Hazel
Hips: 89
Eyes: Hazel

Even if she has a long way to go to fulfill her hopes and dreams, we know that Frøydis has many of the tools needed to go far. She actually has some print work for a Norwegian magazine coming up soon. Let that hopefully be a strong push up into her model life. And it may almost sounds a bit cheesy but I have strong beliefs that she will make us proud! Frøydis is on our radar!
