Baby, Take me Now! Oh La La!

I have to admit that I have been taken into Givenchy's arms and I'm being held captive. It's not like I want to be let go. As their campaign for F/W 09-10 has started to come out, I have to say that I'm impressed. I was a bit on the border on changing Inez & Vinoodh to Mert & Marcus but the results are very... Givenchy!

Mariacarla Boscono, Ranya Mordanova, Iris Strubegger and Leonor Scherrer give off a very french appeal to the campaign. There not only is a strong elegance but the death stare is just so powerful. It's piercing and captivating. The choice of models is completely unique where newcomer Ranya matches up to the other more experienced models and definitely looks like she has been in this business for ages.

Most importantly and what left me in awe is the choice for the last model.
Adriana Lima is an icon because of her trademark legs and her fantastic lips and body. She truly is one of the best angels Victoria's Secret has had. Yet this season, not only did she walk for Givenchy in a sleek all-covered black suit but she is also a part of this campaign. Even though, this time we get to see little of her perfect swimsuit body, the oozing sensuality is still captured on film.

I mean, it is just refreshing to see that this girl's versatility yet still be true to her own model self. The sensual and seductive Adriana Lima!

Rough Virgin Summer Days.

I was at the beach yesterday and although it might just seem like an ordinary day, it was the first beach day of this year's summer. Exciting, at least for me. I love such days cause you get a bit refreshed and replenished by sun energy. Sort of like Wall-E. Lol.

Well, it really makes you realize why the beach is such a common place for photoshoots. Not only is it a place where you really can relate to with comforting feelings but it's also a place to replenish and reinvent. Such is the case for Hans Feurer while photographing Ali Stephens for the new 300th issue of i-D Magazine. Carrying some of the coolest trends of this season, this editorial "Stop working and go to Africa" really inspires you to take that step and get out of your box. That tribal, rough summer person is emerging.

Futuristic patterns from Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga & Comme des Garcons, futuristic and symmetric designs from Gareth Pugh & Balmain and the tribalesque, almost ripped apart cuts and patterns from Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Dries Van Noten make up for a bolder woman. A woman in control.

Few things are more intriguing and provocative to me than a woman who looks like she can kick my ass.

This season, take up those 80s shoulders and extravagant belts. Yes, it might seem like it could come from a Star Trek episode yet the mixture of embroidering and the precise cuts of the belts, are bound to create a modern look that shows a creative yet strong presence. Tribal, almost flowery patterns are a definite must as they simply add a bit of pizzazz to the normal everyday outfit like on the leggings by Alexander McQueen or the Louis Vuitton design (both below).

Don't be afraid to show something revealing of your body. Bolder and more unusual cuts make for some of the strongest looks like on the all Givenchy shot. It's quite obvious that some of these looks may not be something for everyone but it's time that normal people realize that fashion is progressing and with that trends are too. It's time to drop the glamour dolled-up look and embrace a rougher yet stronger look. All these choices are bound to make a lasting impression of a person in control and a self-aware person.
